Charities

After each production, the Basel English Panto Group donates any surplus money to charity. In 2007 we started sponsoring girls at the Starehe Girls’ Centre in Kenya and this has become our regular charity. Starehe gives the opportunity of a good education to disadvantaged girls. In 2009, the BEPG sponsored four girls at Starehe. They have now graduated and we nos sponsor four more girls.

We keep up personal contact with the school and the girls. The photo shows Helen Baldomero, one of the BEPG committee members, with ‘our’ four girls. Helen visited Kenya in 2009.

If there is enough money left over – after paying the panto production expenses and the operating costs of the association and sponsoring the Starehe girls – we can support other charities. In 2009, we gave a donation to BCDSA, a children’s support organization in Tanzania with which we also have personal links.
